Our Encinitas Dental Team
Dr. John Koett, D.D.S.
John is a native to San Diego. After graduating from The University of San Diego High School he went on to earn a Bachelors of Science from the University of California, at Berkeley. While at Berkeley, John competed for the Cal Rowing team and would graduate with honors before attending The University of the Pacific Dental School. He graduated with high honors and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Phi Kappa Phi honors societies. After graduating, Dr. Koett worked as an associate in several San Diego County practices where he was exposed to several practice philosophies before taking over for Dr. John Coughlin in Encinitas. In this practice, Dr. Koett has been able to carry on an honest and conservative approach to treating patients. His dental practice and team share a patient-centered and comprehensive approach to maintaining patients’ oral health and continue to provide dental care to the highest standards.“I love what I do. Dr. Megan E Olson, D.D.S.
Born and raised, 5th generation Californian. She attended Acalanes High School in Lafayette, California and received her bachelor’s degree at Middlebury College in Vermont in 2001. At Middlebury, Megan competed on the swim team earning All-NESCAC and All-American honors her senior year. In June 2005 Dr. Olson graduated as valedictorian from the University of Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco with high honors. She was inducted into the Tau Kappa Omega, Omicron Kappa Upsilon, and Phi Kappa Phi honors societies. After graduation, Dr. Olson joined her then fiancée Dr. John Koett at their practice in Encinitas. She has also maintained an associateship with her father Dr. James Olson at his dental practice in Berkeley, California.
For Dr. Olson, dentistry is about gaining and maintaining a trusting relationship between doctor and patient, and then providing a lifetime of quality care.
Dr. CJ Small, D.D.S.
Dr. Small grew up locally in Encinitas and has always loved North County. He graduated from La Costa Canyon High School, and was recruited to play Division 1 lacrosse at Villanova University. Studying there he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. After graduation he began to pursue his passion for dentistry at Chapman University, in their pre-health professions program. He then followed in Dr. Koett and Dr. Olson’s footsteps and matriculated at their alma mater, the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni, School of Dentistry in San Francisco.

Liz Sloss, Business Coordinator
Liz Sloss is the dental business coordinator. You know her best as the reliable voice, “Thank you for calling the office of Dr. John Koett & Dr. Megan Olson, this is Liz”. Personable, friendly and knowledgeable describes Liz perfectly. These strength’s along with many others complement the dental team. Patients will be provided with the utmost in dental care and a lifetime of service at Dr. John Koett and Dr. Megan Olson’s dental practice. Liz has over 35 years of career experience in multiple facets of the dental field as a Registered Dental Assistant, Oral Surgery, Periodontitics, Implants & Cosmetic Dentistry and practice building. Liz manages the front office with an attention to detail, comprehensive of a patient’s dental needs, and complete insurance billing & financial coordination. Liz’s life’s pleasure include spending time with her husband, beautiful daughter, friends and family and her two Shih Tzu’s, Bo & Rocky.
Lauren Beck, Front Office Lauren Beck, Front Office
I was born and raised in San Diego. I grew up playing competitive sports and continue to participate in outdoor activities. I’ve been working in the dental field for over 5 years and enjoy interacting with the local community. I find gratification in welcoming and providing excellent service as patients visit the office. My personal interests include traveling to new places with family and friends, along with hiking and exploring the San Diego coastline.
Christy Lorson, RDH
I have been a practicing dental hygienist since 2006. After a short period of searching for the “right office” to work at, I discovered Dr. Koett and Dr. Olson’s practice and started working for them in 2007. I graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry and recently completed an additional Alternative Practice licensure program. The aspect that I enjoy most about my career is the individual attention that the hygiene field allows me to have with my patients. Not only do I know the history of my patient’s teeth and oral hygiene concerns, but I also get the opportunity to know them personally as well. When I am not at the office I’m enjoying family time with my husband Chris and our two little girls Cayla & Camden.

I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene in 2009 from Fresno City College. I truly love my work in the dental field and I have a place in my heart for every patient that I treat. My greatest feelings of accomplishment come from helping build trust with patients that have had negative dental experiences in the past. I love helping them feel comfortable and build their trust along their dental journey.
I enjoy beach time with my husband and two beautiful daughters. My passions include the outdoors, gardening, reading, travelling and spending time with my loved ones.
Lena Yesulkova, RDA
I have worked in the dental field for 15 years. Through my studies in the field of dental health, I obtained my certification as a Registered Dental Assistant. I have been a part of Dr. Koett and Dr. Olson’s team since 2006. I enjoy working with my doctors and our patients because I know that our office is committed to providing quality care. I truly take pleasure in interacting with and caring for our patients. Outside of work I enjoy nature, gardening, cooking, traveling, reading and I love spending time with my husband, family and friends.
Abril Ontiveros, RDA
Alicia Sager, DA
I was born and raised here in San Diego. Why leave? The weather is amazing! I have been married for 14 years and I am a proud mom to a 9 year-old son. He plays baseball, so yes I’m a baseball mom! My husband and I opened a brewery in downtown Oceanside next to the pier. He takes a care of the brewery while I take care of teeth. I’ve been assisting in dentistry for over 15 years. I have been in all types of offices from general dentistry, to perio and ortho. I got my first taste of dentistry in a practice right here in Encinitas. That’s when I fell in love with it 15 years ago. My past time hobbies include traveling (anywhere tropical), snow boarding (powder with sunshine) and hanging with my family.
Kimberly Lyndon, RDA
I am originally from Santa Cruz (Northern California) California. I have lived in San Diego sporadically throughout the years but as of recent decided to make North County home and I am so happy I made that decision! I can’t be away from the ocean! I have been in the dental field for 11 years and have been blessed to work in many different fields in the dental industry from special needs pediatrics, office management, volunteer weekend giveback to ER cosmetic work. I am a dental nerd at heart and proud of it! When I am not working, I am teaching barre class, writing copy, traveling the world, hiking, exploring new beaches or eagerly eating something new and delicious! My 3yr old and 1yr old nieces make life so fun and constantly remind me of the little things! I LOVE to laugh, enjoy live music, oh and pet ALL the dogs!
Eva Zuniga, DA
I was born in Mexico City, one of 11 children and the oldest of 9 women. I studied to become an elementary school teacher and happily worked for 28 years giving children an education. My daughter became a dentist at UABC university in Mexico and is hoping to practice in the US eventually, and my son transferred to University of California San Diego for college. I studied at UEI to become a dental assistant and moved to Escondido three years ago and I recently became happily married. Being part of Drs. Koett, Olson and Small’s office and part of their great team makes me very happy!
